On April 10, 1935, Abele Waldemar of Baden, near Vienna, patented an improved Christmas tree candle holder featuring a flexible metal loop between the clamp and holder. Her simple design allowed the candle to tilt freely in all directions while remaining stable and easy to manufacture.
