On September 23rd, 1909, Augusta Amelia Gleitsmann, a gentlewoman from Stuttgart, Germany, patented an innovative insulating slab for walls, roofs, and ceilings. Her design featured two metal plates enclosing slag wool, forming a fire-resistant, interlocking block for improved thermal insulation.
