On November 11, 1915, Countess Helen Mörner of North Sydney, Australia, obtained a patent for improvements in bulletproof garments. Her design featured flexible steel bands arranged horizontally and vertically, which could be rotated by 90 degrees to enhance flexibility and protection while remaining light and comfortable to wear.
