On January 1, 1901, Celestia E. Kerr of Decatur, Georgia, obtained a patent for a novel drawing and measuring instrument combining multiple tools into a single device. The invention integrated a ruler, T-square, protractor, compass, and adjustable arms with folding and locking features to enable accurate measuring and angle setting.

On December 1, 1908, Celestia L. Stolp of Los Angeles, California, obtained a patent for an improved curtain stretcher designed to dry curtains without tearing or distorting them. The invention featured an adjustable, foldable rectangular frame with telescoping members, hooked rings, and removable needles that securely held curtain edges while maintaining proper shape.
