On July 21, 1930, Melitta Klein, a Slovakian-born physician residing in Austria, devised and patented a novel method for esterifying organic compounds to enhance the flavor and shelf life of commercial soup.

On December 17, 1927, Odette Brenner of Paris patented a method for vitrifying paper to increase its strength and translucency. Her process allowed two treated sheets to be bonded together, creating artistic applications such as landscapes, floral designs, and ornamental motifs for use in home décor and other decorative objects.

On February 17, 1930, Odette de Lichtenberg of Paris patented a bridge scoring device designed to replace conventional printed score sheets. His invention used colored beads or rings sliding on rods to mark points and indicate game progress, allowing players to track gains, losses, and completed hands clearly and accurately throughout the game.

On April 7, 1949, Odette Portier of Paris patented an improved support for lighting fixtures, especially for public lighting. Her design replaced the traditional threaded tube with a smooth tube secured in a matching smooth sleeve, preventing the frequent breakage that occurred at the joint.

On August 6, 1946, Odette Somville of Belgium patented a “double-texture” container made by casting aluminum around a dense inner lining. Her design preserved aluminum’s light weight and thermal conductivity while eliminating porosity by firmly bonding it to a compact, leak-proof interior wall.

On September 5, 1946, Solveig Aida Bierregaard of Argentina patented an orthopedic insole designed to correct flat feet by restoring the foot’s natural arches. Shaped with opposing inclined planes that rotated the foot into anatomical alignment, it offered support at the natural weight-bearing points without creating pressure or discomfort.

On April 18, 1921, Yvonne Chrétien of Paris obtained a patent for a mobile machine that turned raw sawdust into fuel briquettes using heat and pressure. Installed next to a sawmill, it heated, prepared, and compressed the sawdust on the spot, converting a waste material into dense, efficient fuel.

On December 28, 1916, Yvonne Colin of Paris received a patent for a new method of making artificial flowers and fashion ornaments. Her design used a fabric base covered with trimmed wool or silk fibers and then color-sprayed, creating fur-like petals that could be assembled with a natural appearance.

On March 20, 1912, Yvonne-Suzanne Grawitz of Montpellier, France, patented a novel method for producing color stereoscopic images. By photographing each half of a stereo pair through complementary color filters (e.
